When you wake up focus on your breath, first and foremost.
Do not allow your mind to run toward your day, your scheduled activities and obligations. Pause and be with your breath.
Secondly, realize that today is not guaranteed.
Anything could happen today. Anything. You may lose a loved one, or someone you love may pass. In this moment of reflection, we reflect on what we are grateful for, knowing that this day is not promised. How lucky I am to be alive!
Thirdly, make your bed.
As you do this realize this is your first good decision of the day! It is not just an act, it literally prepares you for your day. To make one good decision at a time.
