Dr. Huberman’s latest podcast examines the relationship between the gut microbiome and your overall health. Did you know that we have trillions of microorganisms living inside our gut, intestines, throat, mouth, skin, eyes and nasal passages?! These trillions of little microorganisms are essential to our immune system, brain and hormone health. The brain-gut axis explains how the gut impacts your nervous system but more on that later! 


According to Dr. Justin Sonnenburg, a person wants lots of different microateria as this microbiota diversity and this can greatly influence our immune health. Low diversity can be considered a marker of microbial imbalance and can be associated with autoimmune diseases, obesity and cardiometabolic conditions.
